How Does AllerGuard Determine Gluten Status?
We update our database monthly using official drug information from DailyMed, a government-run site provided by the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Each search includes a link to the official DailyMed drug label for easy access.
Automated scraping scans full drug label images. If a label or official insert explicitly states “gluten-free,” the medication is marked gluten-free.
If inactive ingredients are missing from official data, we display “Not Available” to avoid incomplete or misleading results.
We clearly show whether a result is based on official labeling, ingredient analysis, or missing data — so you always know the source of truth.
Ingredient Status Explained
When a medication doesn’t have a clear gluten-free label, AllerGuard analyzes the inactive ingredients to determine risk level:
No gluten-containing ingredients are listed in the inactive ingredient section; however, the medication is not explicitly labeled gluten free and does not address cross contamination unless stated.
Known gluten-containing ingredients (like wheat starch) are found in the ingredient list.
Ingredients that might contain gluten (such as “starch” or “modified food starch”) trigger a caution label for user awareness.
If inactive ingredients are not provided in official data, the medication is marked as Not Available.
All results are driven by publicly available drug data and automated analysis — ensuring transparent, consistent results without human guesswork.
